Charney Practice Group

Michelle Kemper is an associate at Falconer Charney LLP. Michelle has an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School (2007) where she focused her studies on complex litigation and professional ethics, as well as spent a work term at the Parkdale Community Legal Services clinic. Michelle also has a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University (2004) where she served as a member of the University Senate. She was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2008.

Michelle recently joined Falconer Charney LLP, where she will be practicing in the areas of personal injury, insurance claims, insurance defence, product liability, food contamination, commercial, real estate, employment law litigation and class actions.

Prior to joining Falconer Charney, Michelle articled at a boutique law firm in Toronto, Ontario where she assisted senior litigators on a number of complex cases including Polgrain Estate v. The Toronto East General Hospital (2008), 90 O.R. (3d) 630, Tiboni v. Merck Frosst Canada Ltd., 89 O.R. (3d) 439 (removal of ex minister of crown from legal team for conflict of interest), and Frohlinger v. Nortel Networks Corporation, [2007] O.J. No. 148 (largest Canadian securities class action). Prior to law school Michelle spent four years as a senior advisor to BC Government Cabinet Ministers, providing strategic and communications advice.

Michelle recently co-wrote an article on recent cross-border class action developments and helped develop a presentation on damage awards for civil sexual assault cases.

Michelle is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, and is on the executive of the Feminist Legal Analysis Section of the OBA.
